Everyday uses for Vinegar

Here are 22 everyday uses for vinegar around the house. Some of these are new to me! I hope you are able glean some new uses for vinegar today!

  1. Boost your dishwasher cleaning power by pouring 2 cups white vinegar to the bottom of your washer; add your detergent/soap like normal; then wash full cycle

  2. Want to avoid nasty streaks on your windows while cleaning them at the same time? Use a mixture of half warm water and half white vinegar.

  3. Set a bowl with 1 cup water and 1/4 cup white vinegar in your microwave. Bring to a boil then watch as the grime and food particles easily wipe away!

  4. Sanitize door knobs, handles and safety bars by wiping with a sponge soaked in white vinegar.

  5. Remove corrosion from faucets and shower heads by saturating a towel with vinegar and wrapping it around corroaded area; let soak and then wipe clean!

  6. Keep baby clothes and blankets fresh by adding a cup of white vinegar to laundry during the rinse cycle.

  7. Got some bird baths that are lookin a little bit dingy? Take some white vinegar and scrub it down! Make sure to rinse it good once you are done cleaning.

  8. Hands stained by working with fruits and berries? Try washing them off with by rubbing them with some white vinegar!

  9. Remove deodorant and some cosmetic stains from clothings by rubbing with white vinegar, then washing as usual. NOTE: test a hidden area to make sure vinegar will not mark the fabric)

  10. Loosen chewing gum or sticky candy from carpets and upholstery by dabbing area with white vinegar. NOTE: test a hidden area to make sure no surface damage will occur.

  11. Jewelry needing a good cleaning? Soak gold jewelry in apple cider vinegar for 15 minutes. Remove and dry.

  12. To remove sticky goo left by labels, stickers, decals, and bumper stickers, wipe repeatedly with white vinegar. NOTE: test in a hidden spot to make sure no paint damage will result.

  13. Soak vintage lace and fabric in white vinegar and warm water to freshen and reduce stains; wash with mild detergent.

  14. Wipe down outdoor tables and chais with a sponge soaked in white vinegar to freshen and sanitize.

  15. Add a teaspoon of vinegar to water when boiling potatoes to keep them white.

  16. Rub seasoned vinegar and oil on steaks for increased flavor and tenderness; let stand for several hours, then cook.

  17. Eliminate unpleasant cooking odors by simmering a mixture of vinegar and water

  18. Relieve dry skin by adding a few tablespoons of vinegar to bathwater.

  19. Eliminate doggy odor and add shine to a conn coat by adding a cup of white vinegar to pet's rinse water, then dry.

  20. In winter, wipe car windows with a solution of 3 parts white vinegar, 1 part water, to reduce frost and ice build up.

  21. To remove rim deposits from flower pots and planters, soak them in white vinegar for several hours.

  22. Pour a cup or two of white vinegar into toilet bowl; let sit for several hours, then scrub with toilet brush to shine, sanitize, and deodorize.
